1. HANG THE CURTAINS HIGH
If you want to enlarge the room and create the illusion that the ceiling height is higher than it is, then hang the curtains high. You do this by either choosing a curtain rail that you easily mount on the ceiling or by placing the curtain rod higher up than your window is.
2. CHOOSE WIDE CURTAINS
By choosing wide curtains, you can also create the illusion that the room is larger than it is and it also gives a feeling that the window is larger. It is also practical because you maximize your light input by hanging the curtains wider than your window actually is.
