Instead of closing the door to the bedroom when guests knock on the door, make sure the bed is neatly made. New sheets or a bedspread work wonders to make the unmade bed disappear. A few pillows in beautiful colors and patterns and maybe a soft blanket over the foot end, turn your bedroom into a hotel luxury.
